Today, I was reminded of the article that spearheaded my Smalltalk advocacy campaign in 2016: How learning Smalltalk can make you a better developer.
The article was published in TechBeacon on July 18, 2016. It was my very first article to gain international acclaim (I had been writing dozens of articles in the previous year and a half). Over a period of several months, it gained over 70,000 views worldwide (including reprints)! It was “reprinted” in Tech in Asia, in Habr (Russia), in LinkedIn, in Medium.
The article was extolled at The New Stack and Arkency and Slashdot, and discussed at Hacker News.
I was a minor celebrity (very minor)! 😊
Camp Smalltalk Supreme this year marks my retirement from the advocacy campaign. It’s best to leave on a high note, and Camp Smalltalk has been the greatest success of my campaign.
It has been a wonderful eight years (I started on December 17, 2014 — my birthday).
